La Portile Raiului
(Ars Longa Press, Romania, 2010)
Translated into the Romanian by Flavia Cosma
GLORIA MINDOCK
I have always been influenced by Eastern European poetry and have read every translation I could find.
La Portile Raiului was made possible by Flavia Cosma who translated my poems and found a publisher for this book. I am so grateful to her for all her work translating, to Ars Longa Press, and Mihaela Orzea for the cover design.
It is because of Flavia translating and sending my work out to Ioan Teppelea (in Romania) that led him to publish me in his magazines and in the anthology Murmurul Vocilor/Murmur of Voices. He was so supportive and kind even giving me membership to the National Writers Union of Romania for a year. I was able to speak to him once with a translator. I am so happy that he knew I was so appreciative of his support of my work. He passed away years ago.
What Flavia Cosma did for me is really one of the most important things to happen in my life. I always wanted to be read in Romania. She made a dream come true. Flavia is one of my favorite writers so this book will always be very special to me. She is one of the kindest and most caring friends in my life.
When I expanded Cervena Barva Press, I asked Flavia to be my International Editor. I am so happy to have her be a part of the press.
